This exhibition at Kaikai Kiki features over 80 posters by Murakami created over a period of some 10 years dating from Kaikai's previous guise as Hiropon Factory.
These works from the My First Art Series are of a high quality, yet affordable, and are all signed by Murakami. As the name implies, this is Murakami's first "own" artistic output, arising out of the desire to start a project where one could obtain a limited edition artwork with the whiff of an original, tasting for oneself the emotional impact of that experience. As Murakami slowly accumulated series of work, his concern for high standards of printing deepened. His recent works have become exemplary instances of the newest and most cutting-edge printing technology in a country known for its prowess in this area. The finishes obtained through such printing techniques mark a successful foray into artistic production with a completely new value system.
