Born in Nagano prefecture in 1953. Graduated from the Masters program in the painting department of Tokyo University of the Arts. Currently assistant professor in the art department of the same university. Spent 2002-3 in the US as an external researcher of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Has shown work at Biennales and at international exhibitions in Switzerland, Greece, Taiwan and France. Has recently been focusing activities on Asia and on teaching school at Tokyo University of the Arts. This is Hoshina's second solo exhibition at this gallery, continuing on from the first held in spring 2006, featuring his "Memories Blazing Up in Flames" series that was exhibited last year.
