This exhibition features paintings of cats by the painter Toshi Maruki (1912-2000), known for her atomic bomb pictures. In her later years, she tilled a field with her husband Iri and close friends, surrounded by nature and living together with lots of animals.
Toshi's drawings and sketches for children's book illustrations were full of these sorts of vivacious animals, among which cats featured prominently.
This is the fourth Toshi Maruki exhibition to be held at this gallery, focusing mostly on drawings of these adorable creatures, all of which are on display and for sale.
