Globalization has taken hold around the world, and club culture is no exception. Andreas Gursky has documented this symbolic phenomenon in his photo series "Cocoon I". The Cocoon Club in Frankfurt, Germany has adopted the motif of the cocoon as its own, and its producer-cum-artist Sven Vath has gathered Cocoon artists and will bring the Cocoon project "Cocoon Morphs Tokyo" to Womb in Shibuya and Ebisu Garden Place for three weeks this April.
"Cocoon" is the blanket term for projects undertaken by Cocoon and Sven Vath. Following the opening of the Cocoon Club, Vath has continued to draw more than 5000 partygoers every summer to "Cocoon Club Ibiza" every summer in Ibiza, Spain.
