Olivia Maurey Barisson + Koji Yamamura "Movement: In Between Painting and Animation"

Institut français du Japon - Tokyo
Finished

Artists

Olivia Maurey Barisson, Koji Yamamura
The French artist Olivia Maurey Barisson is inspired by live models, and the sequential photographs of Etienne-Jules Marey and Eadweard Muybridge. She also performs in theater, contemporary dance, tango and pantomime to hone the senses felt through her work. The movement lines in her work are expressive and have been influenced by various artists throughout her career. This exhibition explores the problems of drafting movement with Japanese animation artist Koji Yamamura. Works by the artists created during the five week artist in residence program are on display.
