Tomomi Mizutani "Stoneware Exhibition"

Bakuro-cho ART + EAT
Finished

Artists

Tomomi Mizutani
The style of pottery burned in high temperature without glazing is known as "yaki-shime", and it’s categorized as "sekki (stoneware)" to differentiate it from other potteries and porcelains. Flames make various effects on the surface of "sekki," giving it a subtle charm of its own.

Mizutani creates unique sekki work that already bears an appearance of antiques when it comes out of a kiln.

Everyday human living has continued since ancient times. What Mizutani attempts to achieve through her creative process is to give a form to the memory of human life as well as to get it back into our present living.
