The human figures depicted in the works of Tai Ogawa are far from what we could conceivably call human beings - rather, they are mere motifs that are often imbued with animalistic qualities. The use of vivid colors in these images of "human beings" emphasizes their monstrous quality, suggesting the cruel, possibly barbaric side of humanity. Ogawa renders abnormality into visible form, undermining what could be behind what we see, and how we appear. This is Ogawa's first solo exhibition at this gallery, presenting a series of works consisting of cutout faces.
