Artists

Rei Naito
Leading Japanese contemporary artist Rei Naito is renowned for her installations that combine delicate materials such as threads and textiles with natural elements such as water and light to create works of subtle beauty to express the "connection between living beings and the world".

This exhibition, whose title is borrowed from a phrase in Georges Bataille's "The Theory of Religion", will showcase installations including new works. The reappearance of light bulbs, a material that the artist has been avoiding for more than a decade, suggests that this exhibition held in the unique location of the Kamakura Museum of Modern Art marks a new turning point for the artist.
