Noriko Yanagisawa Exhibition
This event has ended.
At Shizuoka Prefectural Museum of Art
Media: Painting, Art Talk
Noriko Yanagisawa is an acclaimed artist who has held numerous solo exhibitions both in Japan and abroad. She was born in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
Yanagisawa's works consistently deal with the theme of the body. Her practice in recent years, in particular, has concerned itself with problems related to nuclear technology and religion. Through depictions of the besieged human body in contemporary society, Yanagisawa poses sharp and probing questions about the nature of life and civilization. Her representative work "Garden by the Water's Edge" is known for its association with the poet Gozo Yoshimasu and its typically genre-crossing approach that negotiates the boundary between art and literature.
This exhibition features around 100 of Yanagisawa's works in one venue. In addition, about 30 Rodin sculptures will be on display at the adjacent Rodin Wing, among which several of Yanagisawa's large works will be scattered.
Various talk events also scheduled throughout the duration of the exhibition. See museum website for details.
