The Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA), founded in 1978, is now the largest design group in Japan, boasting about 2600 members, and organizing events like exhibitions and seminars, publishing collections of members' works and other design publications, as well as other activities aimed at raising the standard of culture and life through design.

In addition, the Association awards the JAGDA Newcomers Award every year to outstanding work by designers under 39 who exhibit at the Graphic Design in Japan exhibition. Kaoru Kasai and Makoto Saito were the first to win the award, followed by such designers as Kenya Hara, Takuya Onuki, Taku Sato, Yoshie Watanabe, Kazufumi Nagai, Kashiwa Sato, Kazunari Hattori, Manabu Mizuno, Chie Morimoto, Atsuki Kikuchi and others, nurturing 79 trailblazers in the design and advertising professions.

The recipients of the 27th award are Yoshiaki Irobe, Rika Eguchi, Yoshitaka Okada and Ryota Ei, chosen from a pool of 203 nominees. On display will be the award-winning works by these four designers, as well as posters and small-scale graphic works.
