Takashi Hinoda
Takashi Hinoda creates human-scale ceramic objects with manga-style graphic images. In recent years, he has created unique installations incorporating his ceramic objects with a pedestal shaped like a comic book and symbolic drawings on the wall and floor space. This exhibition, entitled "Accidental Discharge of Allegory," presents his new installation.

Born in 1968, Hinoda grew up surrounded by manga and comic books, absorbed by a fictional world that became dominant in Japanese subculture. His work naturally evolved from such a cultural background. Titles of his works and exhibitions such as "Deprivation of the Throne," "Ramen in Blue Soup," "Entartete," and "Collapsing Perspective" imply the cynicism and anxiety toward contemporary world, making a contrast with comical and humorous pop impression we get from the appearance of his work.

Using such allegorical titles, Hinoda attempts to portray the complex course of the world, devoid of pre-established harmony. As this exhibition title suggests, a sense of violence is evident in his work.
