"Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts de Belgique Collection: History of Belgian Modern Painting" Exhibition

Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art
Finished
Musées royaux des beaux-arts de Belgique situates itself in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. It consists of Musée d'Art ancien and Musée d'Art Moderne, housing the nation's biggest collection which amounts to a total of 20,000 works created from the 15th through 20th century. This exhibition showcases handpicked 69 modern paintings from the collection.

Various art movements in France such as Barbizon School, Impressionism and Fauvism had much influence on the development of Belgian art. This exhibition aims to reveal how French artists, especially Barbizon painters like Corot and Courbet, gave inspirations to the Belgian artists and others both within and outside of France.
