"8 Days - Beuys in Japan" Exhibition

Contemporary Art Gallery, Art Tower Mito
Finished

Artists

Joseph Beuys
This exhibition examines the works and activities of leading postwar German conceptual artist Joseph Beuys (1921-1986) from the perspective of contemporary Japan. On view is a selection of valuable works and materials, including an unreleased documentary – rediscovered after a 25-year hiatus – that was shot during Beuys' visit to Japan in 1984, various objects from private collections that would otherwise be impossible to see in public, as well as several of Beuys' works from various art museums around Japan, along with exhibition and action posters that stylishly express the artist's tracks during his visit, and videos of Japanese artists and critics who met Beuys back then.
