Artists

Masatoshi Naito
The encounter with a sokushinbutsu was a momentous event in Masatoshi Naito's (1938-) life. Not only did he find his original photographic style but it also marked the beginning of his work as a researcher in folk beliefs in Tohoku. He is now well-known both as a photographer and as a folklorist. This exhibition will present works based in the Tohoku region accompanied by writings by Naito about his research into folklore.
