Kang In-Goo
This exhibition presents Korean artist Kang In-Goo's (b. 1973) installation entitled "Dancing," which recalls raindrops bouncing off the ground in a heavy storm. A total of 3648 stones (industrial ballasts used for railways and parking lots) were used to create this installation, each one tied to the ends of wire and placed vertically in a systematic configuration. A mirrored group of stones appear as if they are floating, due to the occasional invisibility of the metal wire. Although "Dancing" is a simply constructed piece, it portrays a dynamic phenomenon found in nature.

The work on display was first created when In-Goo was an artist in residence at the Aomori Contemporary Art Centre in the fall of 2008. He installed this piece with the exhibition space at INAX Gallery in mind. After this exhibition, the stones will be returned to Aomori where they were found.
