Jun Tsunoda
Foil Gallery is holding an exhibition of works by Jun Tsunoda entitled "Sounding Through" from May 1st (Fri) through 23rd (Sat). At his solo exhibition held early last summer, Tsunoda presented a series of exquisitely balanced abstract paintings executed in fresh colors with a light touch. Previous series inspired by a keen interest in prehistoric Jomon culture, his "Light Sculpture" series that projected patterns and currents of light onto his canvas, as well as his "Dot Painting" series that depicts a delicate, subtly detailed world made up of an intricate arrangement of colorful dots, have demonstrated the multi-directionality of Tsunoda's practice.

Tsunoda has been working on his lifework for over 20 years, expressing occasional emotional stirrings and waverings as well as daily sensations in his painting. His new "Line" and "Ring" series of drawings and paintings employ delicate linework in a manner that is both extravagant and bold. This exhibition features a mix of both old and new works that offer viewers an uninhibited journey into a painterly world of light and color.

In addition, Tsunoda's first collection of works, "Cave," will be published to coincide with this exhibition.
