Takahiro Ando

Since graduating from the department of painting at Tokyo University of the Arts, Takahiro Ando has been exhibiting widely at numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Japan and abroad. His Biophoton series, which he has been developing since 2001, consists of works that detect the photons released through the luminescence that results from cellular division and the oxidation of fat in plants, visualizing the results in real time using a projector.

Despite the fact that these clouds of light are projections that are generated through the use of artificial devices, the images in Ando's work resemble a mass of countless organisms fluttering about. On display at this exhibition is an interactive display that visualizes the movements of photons.
