In 2009, Art Fair Tokyo will return to the Tokyo International Forum with 143 galleries, both domestic and international, for the fourth consecutive edition and reaches out to the world from the international city of Tokyo, presenting exquisite works of art without limitation of period or genre.
Approximately 3,000 artworks, ranging from contemporary art, modern painting, nihonga, Asian works of art and antiques will gather at the Tokyo International Forum (@FORUM) in Tokyo, Marunouchi area for three days. This year, a second venue called Tokyo Bldg. Tokia. Galleria (@TOKIA) is added as a special-feature of Art Fair Tokyo 2009. This venue is conveniently located next to the Tokyo International Forum to introduce 29 cutting-edge contemporary art galleries, all of which have been established within the past five years.
During the course of Art Fair Tokyo 2009, we will continue to hold various fascinating events as well as exhibiting and selling artworks, such as continuing a pre-event called “Lounge Talk” which introduces Art Fair Tokyo, a Guided Tour of the venues which will be given to visitors by art collectors and curators, and our popular talk series “Dialogues in Art”, which features discussions about current art development by several invited
leading experts in contemporary culture to take part in. These programs are designed to help our visitors experience the excitement of the art world first hand and to feel close with art.
