"Tenugui" Exhibition

Guardian Garden
Finished
This "Creation Project" exhibition is a renewed version of a series of charity exhibitions that saw 18 installments up until last year. The charity exhibitions aimed to bring the fun and enjoyment of art and design to as many people as possible by exhibiting and selling works created by artists who had a relationship with two galleries, with the resulting proceeds from sales donated to UNICEF. Creation Project hopes to continue in this vein in order to conceptualize and develop even more appealing exhibitions that explore the potential of design to provide rich and satisfying lifestyle solutions.

The theme for the inaugural edition of this project is "tenugui" (Japanese hand towels). This simple piece of cloth has long been a staple item indispensable to Japanese lifestyles - it is used to wipe, cover, wrap and decorate any number of items. Tenugui designed by 200 artists and creators, ranging from inspired new arrangements of traditional motifs and patterns to bold canvas-like pieces that show off striking designs, will be on display and for sale.
