Mika Noguchi
Mika Noguchi is a ceramic artist born in 1981 and just completed her master's degree in 2008. For this exhibition, matte black ceramic pipes are interwoven to form a large installation which is reminiscent of an old tree. Each tube is about the size of a human arm. A large number of entangled tubes come together and create a powerful impression.

This exhibition consists of one installation, "Entwined by the Mystic Force," inspired by a banyan tree she saw in Okinawa. Multiple trunks with long roots entangle themselves to form a giant existence. She wanted to visualize the mysterious and mystical allure and strength of the tropics in this work.

Noguchi used a potter's wheel to form the parts and wove them together. The piece also reminds us of the development of the human psyche, where all sorts of feelings coexist.

Noguchi's medium, clay, enables her to shape it in any way and has unlimited possibilities. The medium also changes according to the type of glaze and the process of firing, resulting in a variety of forms and textures. She creates her work in dialogue with such mysterious characteristics of the natural substance.
