"The Passion for Collecting ―Selected Pieces from the Collection of The University Art Museum, Tokyo University of The Arts" Exhibition

The University Art Museum - Tokyo University of the Arts
Finished
The Tokyo Art School, the previous incarnation of the Tokyo University of the Arts, was opened in 1890. Even before that, however, a large collection of artworks was started, mostly by Tenshin Okakura, as an attempt to build an archive of educational research materials. In the following 120 years, this collection has grown in tandem with the development of the University, becoming a renowned collection of famous works.

This exhibition showcases around 140 pieces from the collection, including those that are rarely exhibited in public. It consists of four chapters:
1. The Birth of The Collection
2. The Era of President Masaki Naohiko
3. Seiki Kuroda and The Collection of Western Paintings
4. Sculpture Collection by Denchu Hirakushi

* Exhibited works will be changed on July 27th.
