Keisuke Sagiyama "Flickering Engraving"
This event has ended.
Keisuke Sagiyama is a noted artist who was born in 1977. He graduated from the film and video department of Musashino Art University and has since developed a diverse practice centered on video. He is known for his video installation works that incorporate photography, text, fragments of wood and self-built models and maquettes, as well as various other media such as sound. These works are reconstructions of his own formative experiences exploring caves, lakes and mountains that involve all five senses, as well as suggestions for alternative stories and narratives that emerge from these experiences. Sagiyama himself describes these works as attempts to reclaim or hunt down "lost bodily sensations" that have been left behind at the site of travel.
Sagiyama's spaces are suffused with a floating sensation and a restless sense of unease.
Although viewers can only relive his childhood adventures vicariously within the space of the gallery, they may just slip unaware into the story, becoming a sort of belated hero for the film...
