Hideo Mori
Born in Fukushima Prefecture in 1940, professor of Musashino Art University, Hideo Mori graduated from the design department at the university in 1962. His encounter with professor Ryokichi Mukai, who became his lifelong mentor has been a large influence in pursuing his career as a designer. After graduation, he joined a company run by Mukai called Nanasai Kogei (currently Nanasai), where he further developed his ideas on design through interactions with sculptors, painters, ceramicists, and designers. In 1978, he opened his own design studio, Mori, and has been working in design as well as the academic world.

Mori is best known for works such as "Rambling Home" (1977), and "Ocean Colored Cabinet" (1991). In this exhibition, in addition to seven new works, his recent series "Furniture of Afterimage" are on display. It is hoped that this exhibition provides viewers with an opportunity to experience his "design that functions for human spirits."
