Jin Kurashige
This exhibition by Kurashige is his first in Tokyo in about two years. In that time he has participated in the Sydney Biennale, the "Move On Asia 2009" exhibition at Gallery Loop in Seoul, and various other events both in Japan and abroad.

In recent years, Kurashige has had the chance to be involved with video production in a non-art environment, creating promotional videos and advertising materials, providing him the opportunity to reconsider the possibilities of videographic expression in the field of art.

This exhibition is made up of two new installations. "Tank and Potted Flower" consists of a large number of parts arranged so that no clear form emerges. The viewer is aware of something taking shape, but what that "something" is remains undisclosed. Only the small images broadcast by the TV monitors hanging on the walls offer viewers the chance to verify what that "something" is. Relying on the virtual video images in order to spark one's imagination about the "real" image of the parts lying on the floor, the entirety of a large 3D work gradually comes into view.

The second new work, "The Cliff," is tinged with suspense and unravels within a miniature garden measuring 90x90cm. Like "Tank and Potted Flower," it depicts the intersection between virtual and "real" images.
