Artists

Luis Barragan
Luis Barragan (1902-1988) is one of the most representative Mexican architects of the 20th century and his works are internationally renowned as icons of modern architecture.

This exhibition focuses on the house that the architect designed for himself. The house harmonizes the flow of time in Mexico enthused with passion with simple and sophisticated spaces and it became the turning point after which the architect succeeded in finding his own original style that differed from the International Style. The furniture, antiques and other objects in the house as well as works by Barragan's artist friends such as Mathias Goeritz and Chucho Reyes have been brought to the exhibition with the help of the Barragan Foundation in Mexico City. The exhibition has been designed by leading architect duo SANAA composed of Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa.
