Yukari Waragai
Walls in museums and galleries should normally act as mere background. In this exhibition however, the artist drew directly on the walls making them emerge as art works themselves. The dresses removed from the ordinary sizes of paper are poised afloat in the walls. Their reality as everyday objects is lost. But the presence of the body beneath that is hinted by the drawings, turning these textiles into strong presences in the walls.
