Artists

Itohisa Takano, Yasuhiro Yamane
This exhibition will present two painters, Itohisa Takano and Yasuhiro Yamane, who have met in 1997 at the launch of the alternative space Obscure at the Komaba hall of residence of Tokyo University. They began to publish and circulate the magazine Obscure in the midst of the confusion related to the closure of the residence, until they established their own publishing house Swamp Publication in 2004.

Swamp is the group that succeeds Obscure about which Nadiff has devoted increasing interest since its very first days. The group not only is involved in the production and circulation of small publications but also holds performative events that comprise photography, music, what they call live publication, and other diverse forms of expression.

A wide array of live events that will be held throughout the period of the exhibition with numerous guests will invite viewers to the very site in which art is generated. It will be a site that will pose questions on the viewers regarding street culture, about collectivity, about the relationship between the self and others culminating with the most essential question, what is art?
