CAA - Augur Auction Contemporary Art Auction - Sale 9

Bunkamura Museum of Art
Finished
The Augur Contemporary Art Auction (CAA) deals mostly in contemporary art from Japan and abroad, with the objective of rejuvenating the contemporary Japanese art scene. Founded in 2006 by an art dealer, CAA was Japan's first auction house dealing exclusively in contemporary art. It continues to handle works of high quality, attracting the notice of many discerning collectors.

Japanese artists have recently enjoyed increasing international recognition, but many postwar contemporary artists are still suffering from poor reputation and low valuation. Augur Auction aims to focus on these pioneer artists and accord them the proper evaluation they deserve, in order to create the market conditions that will be able to nurture the next generation of young artists. CAA has been attracting significant attention from international audiences as well as foreign participants at its auctions.

This sale features works that will appeal both to seasoned collectors and newcomers, ranging from the postwar Japanese avant-garde group Gutai, young up-and-coming Japanese artists, and top foreign artists such as Andy Warhol.
