Dona, Hiromi Tsuruoka, Yoko Toyama, Hogusa Amamiya
The four female artists participating in this exhibition draw inspiration from internal factors in creating works that are uniquely their own. Dona is presenting the core portion of her long-term project "Paradice", a document of her own memories. Tsuruoka attempts to visualize her mental images through an extremely detailed handling of her chosen medium. Toyama projects her personal poetry onto a canvas in an attempt to delineate a sort of personal, inviolable territory. Amamiya's work evokes a sort of discomfited laughter with its darkly humorous depiction of a space where the ordinary and extraordinary commingle. These artists take a stab at discovering new common ground in the world today spread out before them.
