"Negoro Lacquerware" Exhibition
This event has ended.
Deriving its name from high-quality vermilion lacquerware produced in the mountain where Negoro-ji Temple is situated, "negoro" has recently attracted much attention thanks to its functional form and vivid color contrast. It is considered a world-class design that exemplifies the notion of "functional beauty".
Under the supervision of Sadamu Kawada, a leading authority on negoro, this exhibition aims to reveal the true value of "negoro" work through a display of "negoro" masterpieces, while also introducing a series of other lacquer items such as paintings and carved objects from Kamakura known as "kamakura-bori".
