A color has infinite variations of brightness and saturation. For instance, green: Between yellow and blue, we have the aptly named middle-green. Move closer to yellow and we find such shades as light-green and leaf. Move in the opposite direction toward blue and we encounter emerald and peacock and beyond them the darker hues of olive and viridian. As many of these shades of colors have names in English, in Japanese, we have our own names for many traditional colors that are inspired by nature.

What would your answer be if someone were to ask you "what kind of color is green?"
When you hear the word "green," what comes to mind? These are the sort of esoteric questions that inspired "10’s Green," an exhibition of color images by ten professional female photographers active in magazine and advertising. Each of the photographers taking part in this exhibition has applied her creative energy and power of observation to portraying the modern world through this single color.
