Marc Monzo
This is the 2nd solo exhibition by Marc Monzo (b.1973). Born in Barcelona, Monzo is a much talked about contemporary jewelry designer who has exhibited internationally especially in Europe and the US.

At his first solo show at Deux Poissons in 2007, Monzo left a strong impression with his pop and graphical work made out of plastic and colorful paint. On display this time are around 70 pieces made out of metal.

This exhibition came about from Monzo's aspiration to create jewelry that possesses the unique characteristics of gold, the material he has been fascinated with for many years. Apart from the aesthetics associated with jewelry and the stereotype that the value of jewelry is measured by the rarity of materials used to make them, he reinterpreted the notion of gold jewelry.

A series of pendants entitled "Sun" is produced by folding thin fragments of 18 karat gold into a pleated structure, while earrings and brooches take the shape of a crumpled-up piece of paper. Each piece is made quite simply, with the use of familiar tools. Monzo's philosophy of understanding his creative process as part of everyday activity results in the creation of raw and dynamic work.
