Echizen lacquerware boasts a 1500 year history. Recently, with diversifying consumer needs and changes in lifestyle, the lacquer company Yamakyu Shikkou has been doing collaborations with various other manufacturers, designers and small local shops in order to develop new markets and value creation using lacquer.
This exhibition features small, beautiful lacquered objects and ornaments, jewelry, cosmetics accessories and atomizers, as well as products produced in collaboration with Hisakazu Suzuki that use a specially developed "lacquer wall panel system."
