Nishimura Gallery is holding "Drawing & Print Show 2009" from September 1st (Tue) through to October 10th (Sat), showcasing collections of drawings and prints by both domestic and international artists.

The lineup of this exhibition consists of top-class British contemporary artists that the gallery has promoted since its opening, and key members who have regularly held solo shows at the gallery.

At the head of the list are David Hockney, who has explored new possibilities of a broad range of media such as painting, drawing, print and photography, establishing his own mode of expression, and Richard Hamilton, who is still evolving as an artist, recently devoting himself to create prints on Macintosh using the Illustrator software. Also on view are works by the gallery's 7 household artists, including Chieko Oshie, whose work exhibited at "Artist-in-Residence ARCO 2008" became part of the Ohara Museum collection, and internationally-acclaimed Katsura Funakoshi, who won several awards last year. Moreover, Tadanori Yokoo, who won favorable recognitions for his recent exhibitions at Setagaya Art Museum and 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, is presenting his work also.

Showcasing drawings and prints by these prominent artists who mainly work on oil and wood, this exhibition attempts to reveal new aspects of these talents.
