Gallery Strenger has been introducing European contemporary art since opening in 2007. Its "Strenger Project" exhibition series focuses on the next generation of young Japanese and Asian artists. This is Gallery Strenger's second attempt at acting as a bridge between the Asian and European art scenes. At this exhibition, we will be featuring the work of two new talents from South Korea, Son Bong-Chae & Joo Dae-Hee.

Son Bong-Chae's work has recently been shown not only in South Korea, but also at numerous art fairs and international exhibitions. This group exhibition will be his first exhibition in Japan. “Forests lurk quietly in the middle of vast continents, watching us and seeing everything we have done for a long time." Son silkscreens forests onto pieces of glass, and then layers and sets them carefully in an acrylic box. The artist also retouches the forest with his own hand, depicting forests drifting in the deep fog.

Joo Dae-Hee, born in 1985, graduated from Chosun University with both BA and MA degrees in Korean painting. Since Joo's first solo exhibition last year, he has participated in an overseas art fair and several group exhibitions This is his first exhibition in Japan, featuring images of pure, innocent children rendered in classic monotone Korean ink on Korean paper. The crying and laughing expressions of these children are reproduced vividly by his brushwork.
