Artists

Kentaro Kumon
"Graffiti" will feature a series of photographs documenting street art in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Sao Paulo's streets are covered in wall paintings that range from satirical works to pop art. Sao Paulo is experiencing dramatic economic growth, but severe social problems remain. Street art seems to be a way of venting concerns and confusions related to this, functioning as a counterpoint to the academic art world. Kentaro Kumon became close to one of these painters, known as Kobra. Kobra mixes classical motifs and a photographically figurative style that makes him stand out from the rest. Kumon's photographs capture the daily life of this artist and his friends who dedicate most of their lives to painting graffiti.
