Born in 1966, Hideyuki Sawayanagi received his MA from Goldsmiths College in 2001, and has since been based in London making installation works incorporating video, photography, sound, mirrors and light spectra. In recent years, Sawayanagi has been presenting works made of punched metal, in which human figures are appear in silhouette when one views it from a certain angle and distance.

The theme of this exhibition, "Fission and Fusion", has both materialistic and spiritual meanings. In Sawayanagi's new works, the boundary between these two apparently conflicting notions are blurred, referring to human relationships as well as our individuality in present day society. At his first solo exhibtion at Radi-um, two of his largest pieces as well as five new works are on view.
