This event has ended.

The late textile-dyeing artist Kuniko Takizawa began to diligently accumulate her voluminous collection of textiles produced by various tribes after encountering a Tai-deang stole.

With elaborate weaving and dyeing skills the Thai people, who are now spread across Asia, create textiles of intricate beauty. Takizawa's collection has already been exhibited to the public once at the "Textiles of the Sun and of the Spirits" exhibition (2004, Chiba City Museum and others) and left a strong impression on the numerous visitors. This exhibition will further explore her collection by focusing on Thai textiles which she most dearly cherished.

How are the spirit and aesthetics that have been passed on from mother to daughter along with a prayer for the safety and prosperity of the family expressed on the textiles? The exhibition will display 191 textiles alongside photographs taken by Takizawa herself during her journeys.
