After studying dyeing at an art college, Tsuji became involved in theatrical design and began to exhibit spatial art works. Since the late 80s he has been actively carrying out field works and presenting installation works around the world. He has recently been focusing on field works carried out using a thin 40m long fabric that he produced using yarn dyed red with nidi of coccoidea. By placing the fabric as a surrogate self in natural environments, the artist seeks to explore the interrelationship between self and the natural world.

In this exhibition, works will be exhibited both indoors and outdoors.

An installation made of Japanese washi paper with the aforementioned dyed red yarn woven into it will cover the wall of a room. The paper captures an image that the artist witnessed during a field work: he let loose some red yarns into running water and these began to drift in such a way that made one think of the birth of a living organism. Other 3D work will also be presented alongside a DVD projection of a video footage of the fieldwork carried out in Gudari-numa, Aomori, in 2008. Moreover, an installation work at the well in the museum's bamboo grove is planned.

There will be an art performance and special live "Lumiere" by Syuhei Ohata on June 20th (Sat), 18:30.
