At this exhibition, photographs in the collection of Swiss collector Susanne von Meiss are on view for the first time in public. The theme of the collection is "allure."

Susanne von Meiss grew up surrounded by artworks, and had a dream of having her own art collection one day. It was fifteen years ago, when she started collecting photography. She realized what her collections shared in common, which was "allure." Although the aesthetic of this term is based extremely on personal tastes, it can be referred to as a combination of beauty, gracefulness, elegance, and a sense of uplifting energy - something glowing from inside.

According to the notable fashion magazine editor Diana Vreeland, "allure" is a word very few people use nowadays, but it's something that does exist. "Allure holds you...whether it's a gaze or a glance in the street or a face in a crowd...it pervades...you are captured by it."

The collection of Susanne von Meiss includes alluring works by fine art photographers such as Horst P. Horst, Helmut Newton and Irving Penn, famous fashion photographers like Norman Parkinson and Paolo Roversi as well as street photographer Lee Friedlander, journalistic photographer René Burri, and contemporary photographer Nan Goldin and Isabel Munoz, covering a wide genre of photography created in the 1920s up until today.

タイトルがちょっといいですよね。
シャネルの香水の名前でもあります。

色々な写真家の作品が
背中の写真が何枚も続いたり、という具合に
ゆるやかなテーマごとに並べられていて、
ふわーんと楽しめる展示でした......
