Chieko Oshie, Asae Soya, Takanobu Kobayashi, Kae Higuchi, Katsura Funakoshi, Kumi Machida, Atsuhiko Misawa et al.
Oshie joined Artist in Residence 2008 at Ohara Museum of Art last year. She stayed for 3 months at Muison-sou, an old atelier formally owned by an artist Torajiro Kojima, and drew within majestic nature. She tried to keep herself away from the outside world and sincerely faced the mountains and trees for a fixed period of time. As a result, she nurtured skills in expressing fresh flowers and the atmosphere surrounding the space and objects. Oshie says it was a precious experience to step out of the atelier into the garden and draw real things existing right before her eyes. This time, Oshie's 4 new drawings depicting mountains and trees, including "Shower" and "Kodama", are on display. Also on view are the "Nude" series produced during her stay in Belgium from 2003 through 2005, and other pieces that take pokeweed as main motif, both executed in oil pastels, the medium she vigorously worked with at the time.

Asae Soya, whose work is characterized by delicate brushwork and distinctive use of color, exhibits a series entitled "Air", the portrayal of forests filled with pellucid and comfortable atmosphere. This series was blown up and displayed at the stairwell of the Breeze Tower, Osaka, covering the walls from its ground floor to 6th floor, delighting the eyes of many people.

Katsura Funakoshi, an active trailblazer in the field, exhibits 3 new drawings. He won Mainichi Art Award and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Art Encouragement Prize in succession. For Kae Higuchi, who won public favor with her solo show in February this year, this is the first to introduce her drawings.

Through the presentation of precious works, this exhibition offers an opportunity for the viewers to witness new aspects of each artist.
