After the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the next World Expo will be held in Shanghai in 2010. Chinese contemporary art has recently grown alongside the development of the economy. “Japan meets China” shows the encounter between Chinese and Japanese contemporary from the collection of Zeit-Foto Salon. Most of the pieces on display were made between 1990 and 2008, most of which are large-scale works. Most of the Chinese artists are male, but most of the Japanese are female. Such contrasts reflect differences in the art of the two countries.
