Bamboo Husk Embroidery Exhibition

Gallery Claska
Finished

Artists

Yoshie Maejima
Bamboo husk embroidery is a craft technique invented by German architect Bruno Taut, who lived in Takasaki, Gunma prefecture in the 1930s, building the foundations for Japanese craft design. Today, Yoshie Maejima is the only living artisan who practices this technique, a representative Japanese handicraft tradition that deserves more attention.

On display at this exhibition are various arrangements of baskets and other woven objects coordinated by stylist Miyoko Okao, as well as boxed sets of postcards.
