Serial exhibition "art-life+" introduces works by emerging artists. The 11th "art-life+" features Kyoto-based artist Toshiyuki Kajioka.

Kajioka creates drawings on washi paper with pencil and sumi ink. At first glance, his work appears to be a black painting, but in fact, its large surface is occupied by repetitious pencil lines layered with sumi ink. The surface, reminiscent of flowing water, gives rise to an unsettling feeling, while also creating a peaceful, drifting moment.

Using the large open courtyard space of Spiral Garden, Kajioka has installed three large-scale drawings. His work brings a different sense of scale and atmosphere into the gallery.
