Ichiro Endo

Ichiro Endo has been giving live performances since his teenage years, working as a musician, DJ, designer, painter and video artist. He now calls himself a "future artist," planning events for other creatives and serving as a backup artist for them. All of his activities serve to convey a consistent message: "Go for Future." According to Endo, the future is the only consciousness that ties the world together, because the tomorrow "happens to everyone." He considers the future to be the only notion that is able to transcend the framework between the self and the other, a constant awareness that overcomes differences in national identity and religious belief in order to effect change in this world.

To this end, Endo's works are simple actions broadcast through large letters or high volume so that everyone can understand - they resonate directly with the minds of viewers. Given the present chaotic state of the world with its rampant problems, one wonders in fact if Endo's exuberant message is at all necessary. The first half of his exhibition "Driving Photo Music" features a number of photos that capture the unique moments he encountered while driving his beloved "Go for Future" car all over Japan, as well as an interactive video installation consisting of countless photos from Endo's travels that visitors can manipulate freely.
