Artists

Koji Kinutani
Koji Kinutani became the youngest winner of the Yasui Prize in 1974, and became a member of the Japan Art Academy in 2001. He also taught at the department of painting at Tokyo University of the Arts for more than 20 years, exerting a profound influence over several generations of art students.

This exhibition features around 50 paintings and sculptures, including his early oil paintings, graduation works from his university days, studies for frescoes from his time in Italy, as well as notes and texts that offer viewers a retrospective look at how his "self-portrait" changed through the years - his youth, during which his unique style underwent dramatic change, and both the Yasui Prize and Mainichi Art Prize brought him fame without letting it overwhelm him. In addition, Kinutani himself will also give a series of lectures.
