Masaya Yamamoto
Japanese design journalist Masaya Yamamoto hated anything crooked, a veritable "Kamen Rider" and ally of justice. His numerous interviews with designers and the magazines in which his writing circulated were full of critical verve and a questioning spirit that sought to tackle the issue of design from a social perspective. His elaborately prepared writings had a sharp view on things and a repetitive trial and error approach. Even though misunderstandings sometimes arose, Yamamoto grew to become a trusted critic among both readers and designers alike. His straight talking personality occasionally sparked conflicts in the Japanese publishing and design industries.

This exhibition at Kunitachi Honten gathers together in one place the writings of Yamamoto, who passed away suddenly last year on December 7th, in an effort to reconsider his role and stance as a design critic.
