"A Bright World" is organized by students of the MAD (Making Art Different) course run by NPO Arts Initiative Tokyo as part of their course program.

TVs, convenience stores, karaoke boxes, internet cafes, family restaurants and high-rise buildings all emanate a spectacular light that pervade our cities with light. The spaces that they create may be conceived of as utopian as they point to a stable everyday life. Being intermittently subjected to this "brightness" people who live in the contemporary city are constantly subjects to be looked at, experiencing the stress of being looked at. In commercial and public spaces where shadows have been banished, cameras as well as people's glances thickly intertwine. A "bright world" promising freedom, yet dominated by the feeling of being looked at. The 4 artists presented in this exhibition articulate such ambiguity through videos and drawings.

A bar will be open from 18:00 to 21:00 during the exhibition period.
