This event has ended.

1989, the end of symbolic era of modern Japan, Showa, is the theme of this solo exhibition of Noboru Sakamoto. He expressed joys and sorrows of people and the cities around that time in history through his paintings. He develops the surface with thick layers of acrylic paint and medium and then carves into it to create a sense of tension. As the artist says, his paintings can be truly experienced only in person. Although these works are about the decline of Showa, his images call to mind things that can be also said about today.
