Miho Shirai
"Unknown Binding" is a new video installation being created in Japan in concert with a short film "Forever Afternoon" produced in Sunderland, England, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Japan-UK Trade Treaty. Just as Alice, played by Shirai herself, symbolized a group of delegates who traveled through the northeast part of England 150 years ago, British actors who are coming to Japan for this new work will dress in costumes that allude to Commodore Perry, and dive into an enigmatic world where Japanese myths and classical sculptures are played by real people. Through these two works that face each other like a mirror image, a fierce sensation experienced by people today as they confront "others" will be exemplified.

Video installations, photographs, drawings and more will be on view.
